Williamsburg Overlay is a framed drawing, 34" x 26", augmented by a digital video loop projected onto its surface
The piece combines digital video and analog drawing techniques, blending a static image with a running projection. This series departs from the standard temporality of the finished drawing. In its tradition form, the finished drawing represents only a moment in time from a particular perspective. For the artist, the drawing is the record of many hours of observation. By adding a running video projection to the piece, the artist is able to share more with the viewer. The choice to include only the moving elements is a conscious effort to add the aspects of the video that most greatly add to the still.
