Jason Krugman Studio was commissioned to design and build a custom interactive LED skin for the interior of the new administrative headquarters of the Claremont University Consortium in Claremont, California. Krugman Studio collaborated with LTL Architects to design a modular LED system. The final installation was comprised of over 6000 bi-color LED pixel boards attached to tightened cabling. The 2-wire support, power and information transfer system designed by Krugman Studio maximized transparency while at the same time creating a robust and reliable support. The installation is a permanent architectural feature which changes color from green to blue as people walk past it. Additional process photos.
Thank you to John Morrison and Paul Lewis at LTL, Troy Hansgen and Bob Walton at CUC, and to Paul Rothman, Andrew Martinez, Julian Lloyd, Sara Krugman and Rumi Ishino. Early prototypes and design development by Alejandro Bulaevsky.
